FutureIsNear Mentorship Program

‘The FutureIsNear Mentorship Program is a lifelong partnership that aims to equip young athletes with resources, connections, and a great support system to achieve their goals in sports and, most importantly, life. FutureIsNear selects a student-athlete from a pool of players provided by the athletic directors of the Atlanta Public School System, Sandlot Stars Camp, or recommendations from trusted youth sports allies. Once selected, the student-athlete receives gear and direct mentoring from Will Benson.

FutureIsNear Athletes

Keon Mobley '22

Keon is a shortstop and catcher at Therrell High School. Keon is always one of the first players at practice and one of the last to leave. Keon is someone who is dedicated to ensuring that he can play baseball at the next level and continues to improve his understanding of baseball day by day. As a student who is currently learning virtually, he is the epitome of a scholar-athlete by continuing to maintain a stellar grade point average and doing all that he can to be successful in the classroom.

Eyon Everett '22

Eyon Everett, senior at Redan High School, has some of the smoothest fielding hands in the infield. The Raider is a good student and, most importantly, a great person. Due to his hard work on and off the field, Eyon is committed to play D1 baseball at Jackson State University in '22. He is a motivated young man willing to go the distance to better himself at the game and in life.

Keyjuan Brown '23

Keyjuan Brown is one of those athletes that most schools dream of having. He plays football, basketball, and baseball at South Atlanta HS. He is also a good student and a great person who has become a school leader in just his 10th-grade year. He is the first football player at South Atlanta to make the 1st team all-state team in more than 23 years. Even though he has fallen on hard times and things can be chaotic around him, he has persevered and continues to strive for excellence.

Matthew Evans '25

Matthew Evans has a bright, bright future ahead of him. The young freshman at Southwest Dekalb High School has a natural ability to play the game of baseball. At his young age, he has shown drive and dedication to get better at the game. Off the field, Matthew works just as hard in the classroom, as he is an A/B honor roll student. Furthermore, Matthew is respectful and has good character. FutureIsNear will be excited to have him on board!

Timothy Clark ‘26

Timothy Clark is a star amongst many. The sophomore at Ola High School, captured the attention of many at the 2024 Sandlot Stars Camp, earning himself the MVP award. Not only does Timothy dominate on the baseball diamond, but he also plays football and basketball. After meeting and having conversations with Timothy, he possesses a thoughtful character and mature presence. He carries this same excellence into the classroom as he is a great student with the ability to listen and learn quickly
